Liza and Dave's Wedding

I was so happy to get asked to shoot Liza and Dave's wedding last September and cannot believe it has already come and gone. Their wedding was a blast from start to finish. From Liza and the bridesmaids practicing their entrance "flash mob" dance in the morning, getting ready at the salon, having her makeup done at Benefit, to walking down the aisle to see Dave, and finally watching them have a blast together after the ceremony. The Roundhouse in Aurora was the perfect place to have their wedding, it couldn't have been a better day!

Skyline Shoot

Women are a constant subject for my photo work and for a while I have wanted to direct a photo shoot to depict how social change revolved around the role of the women in the past and how similar perceptions are still present today.

My theme is based around our society in the West, and what has happened to all of us in it.

It's also about human nature, and the gap between how we think about our lives and what we actually make of them in practice.

In the past, women tried to create the perfect haven of domestic bliss - for men.

The women were housewives, mothers, mistresses, in a culture defined for them and controlled by men. Cooking them dinner, taking care of their children, cleaning their house, and waiting for them to come home to take care of them some more.

Although a lot of women today have come a long way from the “I Love Lucy” ways of pleasing their husbands or significant others, there are still “desperate housewives” drowning in the shadows of their male counterparts because they feel inadequate to make it on their own.

In my series, I have two models representing super-housewives living a life of empty pointlessness and systematic betrayal by their husbands, waiting hopelessly for them to come home in their expensive apartment on State Street overlooking the skyline.

This series is meant for the viewers to see the friendship, rivalry, betrayal, selfishness, hollowness, and, above all, existential loneliness they feel.

Mad Men inspired Fashion Shoot

After hanging out with Ashley's boyfriend, Ben, I discovered that his awesome apartment in Chicago would be perfect for a Mad Men inspired photo shoot. His place has not been updated since the 70's and his view from his balcony was amazing. We collaborated a lot for this shoot, using models Ella and Yelena and makeup artist and hairstylist Iris. Everything came together and we had a lot of fun putting it all together.

It took us a while to get ready. Here are some behind the scenes shots from the shoot.

Shamrock Motel

While living in Chicago, I met a model from Columbia College and asked if she would model for one of my shoots. She was excited to collaborate and didn't seem to mind my location of choice was not the safest of places. While living in Little Village, I had to drive through Cicero to get to my house. I would continually pass this old, retro motel displaying a huge shamrock sign above the parking lot. I was immediately intrigued by the motel and knew it would have to be used in my next shoot.
